This ancient Monkish Cloak is as worn by Medieval monks who lived a Monastic life in service to the Church, revising and decorating ancient manuscripts as well as riding to far flung parishes, but also being prepared for Crusades and defensive battles.
The Cape is a full circle of wool worsted lined with contrast satin, falling from a quilted yoke. It has hand splits in centre front. It has a lined hood with extra long point and tassel, to be used as neck wrap when riding, or just for effect when seen from behind during Rituals. Celtic braid decorate its edges and hem and it has a Celtic Cape closure at the neck.
